Medical Marvels and Colic

So, for the past 4 weeks we having been trying to figure out what is going on with poor Madeline. She has been having problems with lots of spit up, reflux, and just in general poor times with her little belly. So on Tuesday we had to go have an Upper GI done to rule out piloric stensis. Let me tell you that this was one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. Madeline had a little bottle of barium to drink and then I stood there and watched it go from her mouth to her belly. Thankfully she does not have piloric stenosis but we still haven't really figured out what is wrong. We got really worried when from Friday to Saturday she went from 10 lbs 6 oz. to 9 lbs 12 ozs. However, we were back in the Dr.'s office yesterday and she is back up to 10 lbs. We are currently trying prevacid and the most expensive formula on the market to see if we can't get her feeling better. We go back to the Dr. for her 2 month check on Tuesday so hopefully we will either be much better by then or we can try something else.

Oh the memories this brings back...you know, we went through this same thing with Sarah. She was on prevacid until about a week ago and she was on Nutramagen (Liquid Gold as we like to call it since it can take a whole paycheck to purchase one can) until she was almost 3 months old. I know everyone says this, but speaking from someone who was right where you are just a couple of months ago...this too shall pass. But while you are in it it feels like it will never end! Please email me if you need to talk...I have lots of tips and suggestions.

I'm so sorry! I'll be praying that things start getting better. I hope the prevacid helps. It helped me and has helped several kids I know of, too. (Those clever radiologists always have cool tricks up their sleeves!)
