So, having recently posted that Owen has a mild obsession with Buzz Lightyear I thought I should be put myself out there and talk about a few of my own. There are many I am sure, but here are a list of the current ones.
1. Potty training (there should be a manual)
2. Poo problems (we have delt with them all)
3. Child development (once again, where is the owners manual)
4. Reading (for pleasure believe it or not)
5. Potty issues (who knew that reading Everyone Poops wouldn't solve all our problems)
6. Baby be blessed dolls (babybeblessed.blogspot.com or babybeblesseddolls.com)
To start with the last first these dolls and critters are the sweetest things...anyone need a Christmas present idea Madi would LOVE one of these. They have a free give away over the weekends and I have been hoping to win for weeks now.
OK, so as for the otheres, do you see a theme here? We are well into out potty adventure and some days I see no end in sight. I am sure that one day I will look back on all this and think "Boy that wasn't so bad" but right now I think I might send my kiddo to college in pull ups. (Owen, if you are reading this while in college then I hope you are not in pull ups and I hope you know I love you which is why I am obsessed :) So, if you feel like leaving me a comment about the secret to potty training please feel free to do so. Having spoken with my pediatrician about this numerous times I am convinced that they have a top secret file on how to potty train in 5 minutes and they are just waiting to give it to me until I am REALLY desperate. Just needed to get that out.
Sorry for the lack of pictures this time. I have no idea where the camera is. I am sure that if it were in the bathroom I would know.

Hmm... Looks like you need Booty Camp! http://www.bootycampmom.com/
I don't know what to tell you because you've probably tried it all. Caroline and I spent about a week at home doing nothing but pottying - no church, no school, no music class, etc. I put her potty in front of the TV so it was close. I walked around with a bottle of resolve. I gave her 3 M&Ms for every tinkle and a mini Snickers for a poop. And even though she was doing fairly well after that week, she still had accidents - especially poop and especially when she wasn't at home or with me. I carried 3-4 pairs of panties everywhere we went. I tried to not get exasperated or upset when she had accidents (even negative attention is attention). I just said very little, cleaned her up, cleaned the accident up, and went on about my business. Now she's doing great - I can't remember the last time she had an accident.
Maybe you could use a Buzz Lightyear toy or something as a big prize for several successes. One of my friends let her daughter decorate her potty with stickers and that got her excited about using her potty. Another friend made a sticker chart - big stickers for #2 and little stickers for #1. I guess you just need to tap into whatever Owen loves, like Buzz, and figure out how to use that to your advantage.
I think it just takes time - a long time. Don't give up. Don't be discouraged. It is so worth the time and the effort! Owen will get it... Praying for you!
Wow - great tips. If you find that 5-minute manual, pass it on when you're finished :)
Believe me, I feel your pain. Potty training Carter was my least favorite thing I have EVER done...and that is no exaggeration. We ended up doing "potty treats" so he got to pick a candy from a big bowl everytime he went and we did a potty chart so he put a sticker on it everytime he went. After a certain # of stickers (I think it was 10 or 15 but I am trying to block out that part of my life) he would get to go to the toy store and pick out a prize...yes, it was total bribery but at some point you just do whatever works. Good luck...at some point it just clicks and they start going consistently so there is hope.
Sorry you are having to go through all of this. (I am going to be looking to you for all the answers when Cohen starts using the potty!)
One thing that worked for some of my kids I used to work with -- rubber pants. Have you tried those? Put him in real underwear with the rubber pants over them so he feels the yuckiness, but it doesn't make quite the mess.
I don't know -- I haven't been through it yet. And I am dreading the days!!!
Yes - Lori is right! We had a set of vinyl ones. It was summer though and she got so sweaty in them. We also have training pants - super-padded undies. They kind of help contain a mess, too. I got ours at Amazon.com.
